What is "Griefing"?
Well, Griefing can be simply put into a few catagories, these include but are not limited to:
PvPGriefing-
The art of purposely killing someone and or hacking to have an advantage over other pvpers.
BlockGriefing ( most common )-
Breaking a block, or a lot of blocks to annoy someone or just to break it for the hell of it.
OPGriefing-
Having the permissions for "OP" on a server, or having staff perms to destroy the server.
ConsoleGriefing-
Destroying a server from the inside out, this is when a player gains Console / Root / Terminal access to your full server, making the most destruction and mayhem, almost impossible to fix 100% sometimes without off-ControlPanel backups.
Why do people grief?
Enjoy seeing people sad / "buttmad"-
This is when you have no real reason for griefing, other then to see people sad / really mad, otherwise known as "buttmad" on minecraft.
Famous-
This is what I am, and a lot of my friends. We go by the name "GriefNationUK". Some people like us tend to record / have fans / a lot of friends join in on us and put it on youtube,a llowing a lot of people to enjoy a griefing without actually getting their hands dirty, this allows us to get known, and get some cash in the proccess.
Boredom-
This is where someone doesn't usually grief, but gets bored occasionally and will grief a little bit, such as "BlockGriefing", which will do minimal to almost no damage.
How is griefing done?
By hand-
This is where you take tools and manually grief a building / statue / chests you're not suppose to touch.
Nuker / speedmine-
This is where you use a modified .jar, otherwise known as a "Hacked Client" to do BlockGriefing faster, and more efficiently.
OPGrief-
When given OP or Staff permissions to use WorldEdit or namechanging to piss people off / bring destruction to the server.
I know this was already posted by Oklahoma, but I feel not everything was said, and needed more. Credits to Oklahoma also =)
Ah hah, I was about to reply with something until I read the very small text. Indeed, I did leave out some details and thank you for putting them in
