Might be right, a similar thread popped up at GTP with somebody getting failed update installs.

I take the PSN link out of PSNStuff for the updates, copy it into my browser, hit enter and my browser downloads the update as a PKG, (I've had downloads hang in PSNStuff but so far not my browser) I pop it on a USB then update. I have them saved so I don't have to download them again if I want to reinstall the updates. I've done this already a couple times.

If there is an update install issue, delete the game data and start over. Its Important to note, update 1.07 and up all so far require a 2 step update process. Update with a 1.07 update PKG then load the game to complete the second step in the update process inside the game before installing the next update PKG. The same for 1.08 & 1.09.

If a problem arises let us know what update it shows up on.

Also a corrupt or HDD that's going out may throw a error on a update install, it should give an error code to indicate its a HDD issue so, if you do get an error message post the error code.

Sounds complicated Happy

Why not just connect your PS3 to the internet and start the game? It looks for an update, downloads and installs it. It does not send any info to Sony or elsewhere about your console, this is why it works from a PeeCee too. If it did send console info then the PeeCee would be failing when downloading. But don't take my word for it, check with Wireshark and see the proof for yourself.

As for the OP I think he lost interest in fixing his issue as he has not updated any info here.

5gigs of updates so far, Ive re installed them 3 times, that would of been around 20gigs of downloading. In Canada we get it in the ass for the cost of services, high cost & limited bandwidth.

When I'm at or near my bandwidth cap, I bring my laptop to a friends and download updates there, n bring the update home to load on the PS3

I also don't like games becoming useless, even if old. GT5Prologue doesn't get updates anymore, I wanted to test something back in GT5 to demo that GT5Prologue had better body roll dynamics than GT5, I was upset when I no longer could get the update that opens tuning. It still shows better physics than GT5 with no updates though. My theory is GT5 reverted to GT4 physics with a few improvements along the way, most probably done to accommodate the Standard Car Collection. I couldn't get over GT5P having body roll and GT5 with absolutely none just some stupid auto leveling system as corners banked.

LOL, as a fellow Canadian I have to say get your ass off of Rogers and onto a real ISP. (I think Rogers is the only ISP still limiting bandwidth and violating the privacy act)

Worse than Rogers Im on Public Mobile with an Android Phone but no SiM its a provider junk Android phone (PM is joining Telus network in august) 1 gig download and even worse is the signal, can't wait until august 4g network on a SiM card phone. I use throwaway phones / pay as you go, so far public mobile with 1 gig is more internet then the others, who charge 10bucks for a few hundred megabites. In August They start using SiM cards, should get better and maybe more internet.

Even still, I like having my updates in a folder on my PeeCee so I can pop them in anytime. I like not having to wait the DL + install time too, the last few updates with the 2 part install take long enough.

Where abouts in Canada are you, it must be obvious I'm in Quebec lol
