or instead of being all technical you can spray the ak and look down around 1 - 2 inches

Well in most situations you don't have time to try control the aim which is why I just prefer crouching get a few single tap hits then look down and spray works well for me, but I guess you use whatever works best for your play style. since I prefer being up close spending time controlling it doesn't work that well where as if I played a little more laid back controlling would work better.
