Hey NGU,

This is a little strategy that me and my Fireteam have used both last week and yesterday. Last week it took us 5hrs to do the Final Boss battle, simply because it was a new experience and we were trying to put together a strategy. The one I am showing you contains aspects of about 3 other ones we looked at.

We perfected doing this last week, and yesterday we had the VoG finished within 2hrs. The final boss battle was done before the 8 minute enrage timer, so if this method doesn't work for you keep trying to perfect the strategy, otherwise try to find a strategy that your team can work with best!

The Strategy

Initially, you need to decide on who is going to do what. There are 2 'teams':

The Portal Team
This is the team that will be teleported into one of the dimensions, to take out the Oracles, it consists of 3 people:

- The Relic Holder: This person will grab the relic, and head down to take out the ADDs (Enemies). When all 3 of the ADDs have been killed, they will go back to the other two people and cleanse them until you go back through the portal.

- The ADD Assistant: This person will help the Relic Holder with taking out the ADDs when you first port into another dimension. Once all 3 ADDs are taken out, he/she will then help with destroying the Oracles before going through the portal.

- The Oracle Destroyer: This person will IMMEDIATELY start to take out the Oracles as they spawn. It is essential that they learn the spawning pattern of the Oracles so they can be taken out as fast as possible.

The Defender Team
This team is very straightforward. Everyone does the same thing, which is defending the plate (The thing that opens the portal). It is crucial that these people learn how to take out the Harpies without taking explosive damage from them.

Stage One: The 'Ready' Stage[/U]

You must login or register to view this content.

This is the positioning that you should be in when you initially start the battle, and then retreat to these same positions after you burn/DPS the boss. NO ONE SHOULD BE ATTACKING THE BOSS: The only time you attack the boss is during the 'Burn Stage'.

The Blue dots represent where people should be standing in this stage. Remember that the 3 people FURTHEST away from the boss will get teleported to another dimension to take out the Oracles. Everyone should make sure that the Boss does not have line of sight on them, the most effective areas to hide behind are marked in Black.

The Red line represents is the line that no one should ever cross when the boss isn't frozen.

Stage Two: The 'Oracle' Stage[/U]

You must login or register to view this content.

This is probably the most difficult stage of the 3, but when you can perfect it with the right team: it's easy. This is the part where the 'Portal Team' are teleported to another dimension, either the past or present.

When they are teleported, the FIRST thing they need to do is tell the 'Awesome faceefender' team which dimension they are in. Everyone calls each dimension a different thing (e.g Red+Green, Past+Future, etc...). We found that calling each dimension by their respective portal in the 'present' makes it easier for the Defenders to get to the correct side.

When the Portal Team are teleported to a Jungle Area (The Future), they need to call out 'Right Side'. The Defenders will then take up positions similar to the image above.

The Portal Team
When they first teleport, call out which side they were teleported to so that the Defenders can get to the right side. For information on what each person should be doing, refer to the first part of the guide.

When they are coming up the stairs to the portal, they need to call out something like 'Get Ready', so that the Defenders can be prepared for the 'Burn Stage'.

The Defender Team
This team needs to take up positions similar to that in the image above. If the Portal Team call out left side, then simply do the same thing, flipped.

All you need to do is make sure that the Portal is up when the Portal Team take out the last Oracle, we found it most effective to open the portal ASAP, and just defend it from the Harpies. Remember: The Harpies (or whatever their name in this battle is) are suicidal, and deal a LOT of explosive damage when they detonate.

The Harpies' spawns are indicated by Green Arrows on the image above.

Stage Three: The 'Burn' Stage[/U]

You must login or register to view this content.

This is the stage where you get the satisfaction of seeing the Boss' health decline, but it also has a few possible game-ending risks, which I shall go over shortly. When the Portal Team destroy the last Oracle, everyone gets a 25 second buff where all weapons (Not supers) deal around 5x damage. When the buff expires, the furthest 3 people from the boss will be teleported back into another dimension, then it's just repetition.

The Relic Holder
This person needs to be the first person onto the Burn Platform, and the last person to leave it. As SOON as you get onto the Burn Platform, hold down the 'Cleanse' shield CONSTANTLY; During this stage, the cleanse shield will not let enemy gunfire harm anyone within the sheild, but all gunfire from Players can leave and deal damage to enemies.

You will also need to call out when everyone needs to "dip" ('Awesome faceipping' is explained in the next part). You should call this out when there are about 8 seconds left on the damage buff (The timer is on the left of your screen), but you can call it later if you feel that your Fireteam is capable.

When everyone has dipped, you need to get back to where you were in the 'Ready Stage'.

Everyone Else
When the Relic Holder comes back into the Boss' dimension, you ALL need to get onto the 'Burn Platform' and deal as much damage as you can to the Boss (Ignore the Harpies for now).

When the Relic Holder shouts 'Awesome faceip!', you need to jump off the platform, and get back into the positions in the 'Ready' stage.

Risks in this stage
  • DO NOT fire Rockets behind other people, there is a very high chance that you will die.
  • If you're a Titan, don't pull up that purple shield: The Relic's bubble does the same thing, but you can actually shoot out of it.
  • The Relic Holder needs to have the shield up until everyone else has dipped. Then he/she can get back to the 'Ready' position.

After that, you repeat this whole process until the Boss dies.

GOOD LUCK!

I'm pretty sure every Fireteam uses this strategy.

Me and my team use it and I know of a couple others that do.

Guy with relic cleanse and helps with ads while one guy kills oracles, get cleansed with relic and everyone focus on oracles. Have guy with relic leave portal first and hold cleanse for when the other guys walk out and then super the boss while everyone else throws grenades because you get max every time timed vengeance is up.

Before time runs out the 3 portal runners go to the back of the map and rinse and repeat.

Guys outside stand on pillars and shoot harpies without losing portal.

Pretty easy if you have a good team. Me and my team already beat the raid without dying.

I think you missed that a lot of console players aren't familiar with Raid style games. At the end of the day, all the strategies are the same: it's essentially positioning and character setups that differ.

This is just another one to add to the list, as well as being another place to find the information.

Tried to do a raid with some people at the tower 2 days ago and made it to the final room which took us about 8 hours which then 2 teammate bailed out and I never got the chance to finish the vault :( might try it again if I find some more people but none the less great guide. I also want to add if it helps on the second boss "The Templar" There is a cheap trick I found on Youtube that allowed us to beat him quickly after dying for hours. Video by CrossCoastGaming

If your team can't make it that far they can camp at the first platform he jump at although it is a little smaller it would still work the same way and he would only teleport in 3 areas in front of your team allowing for a full opening and easy hit. Happy
