Post: Polyphony Digital to Ban PS3 Consoles Running Hacked GT6 Games

Since the PlayStation 3 encryption keys were published by hackers back in 2011, both GT5 and GT6 have been targeted by users looking to modify the games beyond their intended parameters. Although “hacks” have always been a part of video gaming and even the GT series, it now takes on a new seriousness, as it threatens the integrity and fairness of online competitions.

Although some who modified their games may have found only their PlayStation Network accounts banished in the past, Polyphony Digital is now taking things a step further, announcing yesterday that entire PlayStation 3 consoles will be banned from connecting to GT6 online services if they detect the player is using “illicitly modified game data”.

According to the notice posted on the official UK Gran Turismo website, the first console bans have already been established, and other consoles will be subject to penalties as soon as they are discovered.

Not surprised at all. If anything I'm surprised it didn't start sooner. They are probably targeting the guys posting Seasonal Times or GTA times in modded cars first. These guys I have little sympathy for so whatever. the guys who kept in pivot rooms I hope don't get hit but take it as a warning to quit it or risk it.

I wouldn't be surprised if FSX hasn't already figured out a way to stealth the modded cars so they are undetectable lol I still kinda hope it is blocked from working on Seasonals & GTA events.

This is older news. I have yet to hear of a confirmed console ban due to GT6. It is only worded that way on the UK site and could just be a misinterpretation by whoever wrote it for that site.
For a game to console ban you it needs to get the console ID from lvl 2 memory through the game code itself. This puts the condsoleID into memory addressable by GameOS. When I first read this I did a bunch of scans looking for my console ID in memory addressable by the game but I did not find it anywhere. This does not in any way guarantee they are not extracting it, but looking for something that may not exist takes too much time. If there are any console bans, I will find the code and deal with it then.
As for stealthing modded cars, yes that can be done but it would only assist those that want to cheat online lobbies. It would hide any visual changes from everyone in the lobby except for the player running the mods. It would also hide the HP/weight/etc stats but the car would be positioned according to the snapshot updates and appear as if it was lagged to the other players in the lobby.
Since that would only help those who want to sneak overpowered cars into lobbies that have set limits I did not pursue it further. If I make a tool focused on cheats it would be better suited there.

They didn't say they would stop banning PSN Names, just that they would start doing console Banns. I think its PSN Name ban for using Modded cars online, but a Console Ban if you used hybrids in Seasonal or GT Academy events. Just my theory. I dont know anybody here who admits to cheating Seasonals, so giving everybody here the benefit of the doubt we wont see the first few waves at least

We have to wait and see if they do any console Banns. My console is Banned from PSN so its not like its outside the realm of possibilities even though we have yet to see a full console ban. I had a Debug PS3 originally and it couldn't go online, even getting firmware updates was a pain because I had to wait for the update to get leaked and it was always months after OFW updates got released. I sold the Debug PS3 and bought a Retail PS3 right before 3.55 CFW came out, I did a few online races on GT5 & spent about a hour trying out COD BO2 didnt like it too much, next thing I know I cant log into PSN or even make a new PSN acct.

Ive been told I can either spoof my PS3IP or change it, but Ive never figured out how to do it, Id buy a broken PS3 if I could figure it out but it's something a bit delicate Id need help with. Trust me its pretty shitty to have a banned console, I didn't have internet at home for a while just on my phone so I didnt mind as much, but now with a good home internet connection and no ability to play anything online its a DRAG!

Yea it sucks when they post that stupid you've been naughty for five minutes now suffer for all eternity. You should give that enstone cappi 2.5 a try. If you connect to your ps3 it gives you the option to change your console ID.

I run 2.50 but Im either connected to my Laptop and CM or the Internet trying to get on PSN, the spoof on CM doesnt seem to do anything or the ID im trying is dead. Id like to buy a busted PS3 or a Console ID from a busted PS3 but not sure how to apply it because all my test attempts seem to do nothing at all

Id like to just get a used PS3 and OFW online but bucks are tight right now looking for cheapest option and whenever I can afford it

@SiNiST3R Applying a new console ID is actually quite simple. There are many homebrew apps that do it. I am using DEX so I have to spoof my ID back to my original all the time. I personally use PSN Patch to do it just before signing online as it not only spoofs the cID but also deletes history and disables CFW SYS calls. If I forget to run it then I can't sign on making sure I never sign on without a clean history and disabled CFW.
