ESL One Cologne 2016 was disappointing to say the least
Anyone who watched the major tournament for CS:GO that started on July 5th, knows that this major really sucked. The camera angles first of all, were god awful. These odd drone cams seemed to occur at the start of every round, and during rounds, the camera operators would setup these weird dolly cams in a security camera-like view. While these types of views are OK for when a team is setting up smokes, it's completely useless and annoying otherwise. Replays were being shown that consisted of a stupidly large clip, which even resulted in parts of an entire round being missed because of the overlay, and a lot of them weren't even replay-worthy.

The championship, was terrible. It wasn't even a BO5, it was a BO3 (I have no idea why, maybe someone could reply to the thread with some sort of explanation for this that I missed). The games itself were boring as Liquid got purely destroyed by SK, and the in-game camera operators actually made it worse. For some reason, the camera operators kept switching to players that were holding angles, and really seemed to favor SK. JDM aced SK and not a single one of JDM's kills were shown on stream.
Now not everything was completely terrible, the casting was actually pretty decent, and a few games (especially the semi-finals) were pretty interesting. But other than that, pretty much everything else was under-preformed. This even reflected in viewership numbers, as this major had a massive fall in viewers compared to MLG Columbus (500k viewers less). Today PGL announced how they screwed up on the major, and how they will do 'way better next time'. At least the stickers and the trophy look cool?
