(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I have a jailbroken ps3. I maintain it by cleaning out the dust, applying new thermal paste about every

6 months or so. Then recently I've been getting a notification saying "PS3 is too hot, turn it off and let it

cool down for a while". My question is what would be the problem? I was thinking maybe the thermal

paste under the heatspreader is going bad and I would need to change it. I don't think its the fan or the

thermal paste I use either. I use MX-4. Anyone have an idea?

Alright, so the PS3 does gets YLOD because the European standards didn't allow lead to be used in soldering so Sony couldn't use it. This make soldering a lot weaker especially with heat changes. The CELL processor was built to run at a range of 80-85'C but the solder is not good enough to deal with it. The soldering loosens which causes more heat so build up over time. So even tho, you keep your PS3 clean and perfect it will eventually die. :(

I personally recommend using 'Control Fan Utility' to turn the fan up higher, yes it will get louder, to achieve better temps. App found in my thread below along with some stats from NGU members including me. I lost ~30'C by using it. Smile

Yeah thats what I've been using... I would set it at control #2 and it would stay ~73'C. But recently even though I have the fan at that speed the temp still rises to ~80'Cish now and I get that warning. When I have it on #1 the temp would stay ~73'C. So I just wanna know if its something fixable? Or just not use the ps3 anymore cuz either way it's gonna give out sometime or another?

Save Point
i think that you should change the thermal inside the Cell chip,
