yes you can put it on with a usb and then move it to the right place with a file manager

whats wrong with the bluray ?

u get black screen because u need a working bluray to use homebrew

if you got a fat ps3 i dnt no if it still works

connect your hdd via sata to a pc with linux on it and remove the encrytion using grafs tools

as fat ps3 had linux on them origninally so the ps3 hdd is in linux format and can be read by linux

also if it still works u can change patches when ever u want (u need to disable the encryption permanantly)

but it will delete everything off the hdd 1st

link to a thread explaining it all You must login or register to view this content.

in that case theres a thread about somewhere which has CFWs that dont need a working blue ray drive to work properly

you may have to change the blue ray drive that could be your only option.

I personally have just placed a copy of kmeaw's 3.55 firmware on a friends ps3 with a dead blu ray (beyond dead as the ribbon cable connecting the blu ray to the board is not clipping in place any longer.....) you cannot run any packages currently on them.

You can go as far as installing CFW and installing the package but you can't run the package itself (multiman)

The answer is no to the question not without fixing the blu ray drive Smile

As far as I was aware, I was reading a few posts about it on various other forums and it is currently impossible to install packages to a ps3 which is running a BDB custom firmware, if you can provide a link showing that it is possible, then I'll be more over the moon than most!

As for NiallGriffiths, your garbage, all your posts are garbage, you have no idea about CFW and PS3's in general
