I have an old 120gb ps3 running official firmware v3.0

Will I be able to upgrade to OFW 3.55?

And if yes, will I then be able to install CFW 3.55

Any help at all would be gratefully received

Yes. you have a lot of choices my friend. You can either upgrade to 3.55 then go to geohots cfw 3.55 and enjoy a lot apps, or you can sell it since a lot of people want ps3's running 3.55 or lower. Your choice. I recommend (In my opinion) jailbreak it to cfw 3.55 and get the multiman app and go to blockbuster or redbox and rent a crap load of games and save it to your harddrive since you got a 120gb, then go back and return your games to the store and enjoy your copied games on your harddrive!

I don't think you can back up games on Geo-hots CFW without alot of messing about

I have no clue what everyones deal is with Geohot, his cfw is not that good, there are many much better. I do not support piracy, and do not partake in it, but if you perfer to do so, kmeauw is a great cfw that allows backup manager and is very stable. I recommend this, good luck with your PS3! :y:
