So you've bought the E3 flasher? You then need to open up your PS3, apply the clip and follow instructions from one of the many YouTube vids out there- depending on whether you have a fat or slim PS3.

You would overwrite the NAND/NOR chip data, containing the 4.20 firmware with 3.55 or other firmware. It should work perfectly, and if not, you can always re-flash.
