of course you can! the blue ray drive from wat i understand has nothing to do with running ftp server or blackbox or file manger lets say for example u would like to mod mw2 (example) u just data transfer the regular patch from yur ofw ps3 then put tthe modded patch from black box on yur 3.55 easy i learned this too cuz i baught a broken bllue ray drive ps3 with cfw hope this helps
