Problem -
No Bluray ( Because when i went to put it back together the ribbon clip snapped off )

Also so when i go into FTP or File Manager, it freezes... i beleive its because i have no bluray hooked up to it.


Question -
So is there any other way i can switch patches? Like through Install Package Files?

Answer -

First of all things you'll need

- PS3 Decrypter
- PKG Toolkit GUI

I have provided a .rar file which can be found here - You must login or register to view this content.

You'll also need a 1.13 MW2 Patch for your region

Steps :


- This will not work unless you first open your .rar file go to new folder and then highlight the PS3 Decrypter and the PKGToolkitGUI Folder and DRAG IT ONTO YOUR DESKTOP. The MW2 Patch also has to be on it.



- Open your PS3 PSP Decrypter -> BIN - > Release - > PS3 PSP Decrypter ( Top one )

- Once this is done you're going to want to browse for your MW2 1.13 PKG File

- Once you've completed this , extract it and you'll end up having a folder named UP0002-BLUS30377_00-MW2P000000000013-A0113-V0100-PE (1).pkg.Dec.EXT ( This can vary from what region you are in )

- Open up the folder that your just created and go to USRDIR delete the patch_mp.ff and this is where you'll have to find a patch that you like get that patch and remember that it is named patch_mp.ff , if it isn't rename it to patch_mp.ff once completed just close it.

- Now your going to want to open your PKG Toolkit GUI and then open -> PKG Toolkit GUI .

- Go to the bottom where it says BUILD PKG , Where it says input folder browse for your " UP0002-BLUS30377_00-MW2P000000000013-A0113-V0100-PE (1).pkg.Dec.EXT " and Select it.

- Now go back to your PKG Toolkit GUI FOLDER and look for a file that is named "package" it should be in a notepad document if it isn't open it with notepad the content ID should be "UP0002-BLUS30377_00-MW2P000000000013" or it will not work. If you are in a different region replace BLUS30377 with the region that you are in.

- Go back to your PKG Toolkit GUI and go to where it says .config file go there and select the "package" file the one in the notepad document

- Once you have completed this click "BUILD"

- You'll end up having a file in .pkg form in that folder.

- Get your USB Stick / Flash Drive and copy that .pkg file to the root of your flashdrive

- Head over to your Jailbroken PlayStation and go to your install package files folder

- You'll see it there , install it.

- Transfer and your done.

I am not 100% sure on the problem is the cable completely snapped or is it the cable clips?

I have never come across this issue but it does sound like it might have something to do with the lack of Blu-Ray drive but i may be mistaken.

Do you have access to a new cable or have a way to acquire one such as eBay or something similar?

As far as i am aware there is no other way to switch patches apart from FTP if only there was a cabled way to do this instead. *Sigh*

I hope you find someone who can help more into this problem and maybe offer a little better advice than what i have.

Hopefully the 3.55 will live still instead of being closeted

If you have a system backup from previously when you had a different patch on your system, then you could restore the system to that "system restore" and the patch would be on it. But besides that i am not sure if you have any other choices.. sorry mate, let me know if you figure out something, id like to know as well

yes you can decompile a pkg then put the modded files you need inside then compile it and install and the modded file you wanted to change will be on your ps3 without ftp

damnn , i used to hate switching patches through install pkg files , it took too long to convert them patches to pkg files .

do you know how to put them in .pkg format?

Yes , i haven't did it in a while since my ps3 got ylod but i still know how .

can you please help me with it? and i fix ylods.
