nvm, i just realized i can just update to 3.55 ... but how do i do that safely? (sorry for so many questions)

Bro , that's dumb cos ' theirs no cfw later than 3.55 . Any "Cfw" later than 3.55 is fake so @Kompromise don't listen to this guy it would just make you update to the latest version and you won't be jailbroken you'll just have a install package file in the setting menu lol that can't even install homebrew . and that would be just a waste of money for him . so don't do it @Kompromise just update to 3.55 and install KMEAW cfw .

You can update directly to something like Rogero or Rebug.....You can install it right over 2.80

Simply go on 3.55 question solved.

There's a unstable 4.21 cfw made by red power confirmed real by ps3hax/psgroove devs /facepalm

To the asker: You should not use 3.41 as you'll be able to play/download less games than 3.55.
Also, I recommend using rogero v3.6 as it has a built-in 4.25 spoofer and it's an easy and stable cfw.
It's like an updated version of kmeaw as kmeaw is really old, well atleast older than rogero's v3.6.
If you want to do it as safe as possible, first install 3.55 ofw then install a cfw, as I said rogero is strongly recommended. Also, if you want to be 100% sure to not brick just install it via recovery mode.
Also you should put your PS3UPDAT.PUP (capital letters important) like this.
Root of usb>Create a folder named PS3>Create a folder named UPDATE>Inside that put your PS3UPDAT.PUP. Also to get into recovery mode you hold in the power button until it turns off, then you hold it in until it says beep and after that beep beep then release the button then it'll ask you to connect a controller and when you do this menu pops up and just press system update and it will install!
Good luck when getting on cfw. LOL, I remember when I was like freaking out that my ps3 was gonna brick and all that shit, but if you just let it update like a normal ofw update it should not be a risk at all.
