I don't know about the blue ray drive problem, but as for the 4.30 cfw, it seems like a big risk to update from 3.55 thats my personal opinion, I would stay on 3.55 and get kmeaw cfw, because of all it already has to offer. The 4.30 cfw has limited signed packages, and on the bright side you could always go to 4.30 cfw it it turns out to offer more!

Well I know inorder to back up games they must first be read by the Blue Ray Drive, but once backed up it depends on whether the disc allows free boot, (booting unbound by disc). Is the lens bad?
