I assume not. I'm guessing that a station needs to be used to power the hard drive as the PS3 is powering the E3 flasher.

You can try it but I'm 90% sure it won't work.

Got my answer from a member of the E3 devs, they said the station isn't really necessary. And what I meant by Esata usb is this.
