story i was in the rebug tool box installing lv2 wen i tripped over the power cord the cord fell out the outlet the i turn ps3 bak on it says its in som called factory service mode it wouldnt let me install any thing even any of my pkgs so i tried to reinstall 3.55.3 rebug agin it installed all the way untill it it said install to ps3 thts when my ps3 went into red screen i tryed to go into recovery mode but it shoing tht it was installin the 3.55.3 for like 5sec then red screen would apear agin soo i tryed to swap the had drive from my 4.31 and my 3.55 the ps3 kept turning off like 10 sec after the ps3 started with the 4.31 hard drive after tht happened i got on my 4.31 with the 3.55 hard drive in it it loaded up normal but it said i needed to re install the 4.31 update i put the 4.31 ps3 into recovery while i was in recoverey i formatted the hard drive to fix any corrupted data after it formatted it said to reinstall the 4.31 agin after the ps3 rebooted agin so i swapped the hard drives back to the correct ps3s now on my 3.55 it continues to keep turning off after like 10 or 6 sec.

And what does it do after those few seconds? Turn off, go the the red screen, go black etc . . . ?

could possibly be a firmware loop/brick.
try execute this with USB You must login or register to view this content.
Also try formatting your PS3 hard drive if you have a hdd Sata adapter or any other way of doing if of PC/laptop

6 months ago i got the same thing...RSOD...and lost my save and trophy...i did exactly in the video above...like everyone above me said...plug your hdd to pc, format it with fat32formater on your pc...hope it helps...

Well, you shouldn't be dragging your feet across the floor when you could potentially brick your ps3 Be more carefull next time.
