Why would you go from 3.55 dex to 4.21 dex if you're starting at 3.55 cex?

If you mean going from 3.55 Kmeaw using CEX2DEX to go to 3.55 DEX then updating to PS3ita 4.21 v.9 DEX CFW, there is always a chance of bricking but if you follow all the steps in the guide below, it is very slim. Good luck. Smile

I didn't brick, and didn't have much trouble doing it. I have a fat old 60gb PS3 with the PS2 hardware instead of the PS2 emulator. I downloaded a large archive from the ps3scenefiles website called "CEX to dex to cex and backup tools.rar" that was 925MB. In it I only used "eEID_RKDumper.pkg" & "CEX2DEX.exe". My CFW was on kmeaw 3.55. I went to the rebug website to get the QA flag package too. I installed the QA package on my ps3 and used it. I installed the EID key dumper package on my PS3 and used that. I used multiman to copy "eid_root_key" from /dev_hdd0/tmp/. I upgraded to rebug rex 4.21 cfw. I then used multiman to dump and copy the flash of my PS3 to my computer along with the EID key. I then renamed the EID key to "dump", ran cex2dex.exe and converted rebug rex 4.21 to dex. I renamed the converted flash dump to end with "EID0.NANDBIN", went to multiman, and installed it. Everything was done just fine. Used the rebug toolbox to convert the lv2 kernel to dex too. No problems yet, and I still had my old cex flash that has allowed me to convert back to cex multiple times and back to dex.
