Post: Stuck in update loop on 3.42 OFW with faulty wifi module ( SLIM )

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Just wondering if any one can offer some suggestions as to how to best fix a ps3 stuck in an update loop.

Was given to me to look at by someone I work with, not used a jailbroken ps3 since the early days and am a bit green.

It appears to have a faulty wifi board, unsure if BT actually works either.

Was wondering if 355noBDnoBT.pup would sort the issue out? Cant find it to download and tbh not sure how I would go about doing it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just be good to get it working as little more than a paperweight at the moment stare

Yes 100%. Sat here watching it loop while I get ready to go out Happy

Asks for 3.42 or higher firmware, tried safe mode firmware install with formatted hard drive. Error codes all point to wifi/bt board being shafted.

Have got a couple of jailbreak dongles, one being a t-break and the other is a minimus_avr_usb_32k

As you can guess from these, been a good three years since I last dabbled in jailbreak and custom firmware

Take hard drive out > format with pc > delete partition > put in ps3 > recover ps3 > fixed.

Use Kmeaw BDB to update after as you do't need bluray drive for it.

I have taken drive out and reformatted in a pc, still get the same error when I try to recover.

I did the following both in Safe Mode and normal update.

Removed, formatted drive on pc. Put back in ps3.................in both cases the drive was successfully reformatted by the ps3 but still fails at the same point in the update process. Checked error code on the ps3 error code wiki and does state its a faulty wifi/bt................... owner did actually say that wifi at the very least has never worked.

I thought that Kmeaw firmware only skips the bluray not the others.

Surely I must need to be on a CFW to start with? as its OFW 3.42 its requesting as a minimum.
