Use PSIDPatch 4.40 it will show you what your ID's are. And for the backup's you'll need multiMAN to be able to maanage your file's, and I don't see why it wouldn't just use the file manager to find the game folder and alter it as you'd like. Any usb's you use have to be formatted to FAT32!

Unless you have a jailbroken ps3 you can't as of now currently because Sony patch the method for OFW. If you do have a Jailbroken ps3 download multiman and go to system info it shows you on there.
Also if you're talking about official patches you can just download them straight from your ps3.

That's if only he has jail-broken his ps3, if he didn't there's no way to find out.

yea im non jailbroken, but I heard that if someone makes you a backup you can jsut like load it onto a usb then boom?

Sorry but you heard wrong nothing can run back up games unless you are on CFW and you're friend is talking about the TrueBlue Dongle but you still need a CFW for that and it's Dead, they stop supporting that a long time ago.

You should be more clear I thought you were talking about playing back up games on the PS3 OFW, If you mean transferring patches it's called Data transfer and mod patches though two ps3 and or save data.
