I was wondering if this is possible to go from a CFW back to OFW 3.55 as it would be nice to beable to switch between the two whenever I want. If it can be done what version or specific CFW is the best for updating a PS3 straight back to OFW 3.55 the easiest, and would I beable to do this just using a USB, or would I need a E3 Flasher or Progskreet?

Ifyour on CFW you can just downgrade easily with Rogers any CFW downgrader when ever and as much you like as long as you qa flag. And why would you wanna go back to 3.55 OFW it's really not necessary only if your going to get your root key to convert to DEX.

As @jnieves0014 said, any CFW can be easily downgraded to OFW 3.55, but as he also said, there's no reason to go back to OFW 3.55 because there' nothing you can do on it, it won't run new games and it won't connect to PSN.

Ow ok thanks for the help. I would want to go back to OFW 3.55 so I can sync trophy information for myself without the risk of being banned, and then have the option to reinstall CFW again. But if 3.55 doesn't connect to PSN that that's that plan out the window .

Which is the lowest OFW Firmware that connects to PSN, and is the easiest to upgrade back up to CFW? (Bearing in mind, the PS3 i'm going to use is probably going to have Progskreet installed).

No OFW can connect to PSN except the latest CFW at any given time, so now it's OFW 4.41.

It's not easy to go back to CFW when you install any OFW higher than 3.55, you would always have to use a hardware flasher to go back to CFW.

Also, going to OFW alone is not going to prevent you from getting banned, you would also have to format your HDD (loosing your trophies in the process) to remove all traces of CFW (GAMES, homebrew, pkgs, etc...).

So your plan just isn't going to work...

Humm, ok I didn't realise Sony would check past the Firmware, however surely it's less likely you will get banned then if you synced on CFW alone?

But that's interesting as I have heard about people upgrading to OFW and then syncing while claiming there is no chance of accounts getting banned..but that's obviously not true lol.

So there is no way that my plan to avoid banning completely will ever work? .

Yea sorry there's always of bans with CFW however I suggest you install PSIDPatcher to spoof your CID after you sign in so your consoled doesn't get banned at least.

Actually, it is highly unlikely that Sony can detect the CFW itself. What they detect are the things that are on your HDD and the apps that you launch which give your CFW away. So even if you're on OFW, if they detect CFW stuff on ur HDD, they will think u're on CFW and ban you...

Ow ok, you got any tips for how to avoid a Ban as much as possible? Because It seems there has been a ban wave recently . Just when I wanted to start getting into PS3 CFW modding stuff!

So what if I deleted as much CFW stuff off my HDD as possible other then the trophy data before syncing you think that would make any difference?

To put it bluntly there is always going to be a risk with CFW on your PS3, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, ik.. it sucks,I got my main account banned a while back along with my PS3
