well this happend to me to so i can try to help try to mess around in recovery mode or get new hard drive thats how i fixed it

I assume this problem is resolved now but if it's not or you ever do this again:

-Turn off PS3
-Hold the on button until you hear 2 beeps (The first on beep and then a second beep)

This will reset the boot parameters and you will boot back to the XMB.
This will also reset the video and audio settings.
