Soon I will downgrade my PS3 and I don't know which firmware is best. I have only 1 PS3 and I want to mod online in games like GTA V and CoD. I have looked into both forums and most of the stuff there is for DEX consoles so I wanted to install PS3ITA 4.50 DEX CFW v1.
My question is: Can i play online with this firmware and what is the difference if I would install CEX firmware rather than DEX?

well first of all u cant install DEX cfw on CEX,,or CEX on DEX console.
check ur ps3 serial,,if its DEX then u can install 4.50 DEX cfw and if its CEX no then ull need to Install a CEX cfw..and yeah u can also convert your CEX ps3 into DEX...

1/ yes u can play every game online on 4.50 CFW
2/the difference between DEX(developer) ps3 and CEX(normal) ps3 is that with DEX ps3 you can do every type of modding that yu want,,but with CEX ps3 u can only do very limited editing like xp lobbies and stuff
3/ in easy words DEX is way better then CEX,,,

I have retail PS3 (that one from shop for normal customers, not developers) so that means i have to get CEX cfw and then convert to DEX?

Ive looked up how to convert and it says there I won't be able to play online

so once you convert your CEX console to DEX and install PS3ITA4.50 DEX cfw, you can't access to PSN anymore, how can you use the ghost mod tool for PS3/PS4 to work online then? Thanks!

You can go online, that tut is for if you want to go to 3.55 dex and get all the features that dex provides, which you won't need since your just looking to mod games. The cex to dex tutorial you will want to check out is this one: You must login or register to view this content.
