Recently I haven't had the time to keep up with the PS3 scene so I'm pretty far behind on everything. I'm running 4.46 Rogero right now. I wanted to know what the newest and best FW is right now. I'm also interested on how PS2 backups are being run. The last thing I'm trying to get together is online play, what are the risks, what is the best way to get online now and what happens if I get banned. If anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it and would pay you back in a way! Thank you

Moved to PS3 Mods Questions.

The best firmware out now is probably 4.50 ITA DEX CFW, it allows you to go online by just opening a homebrew app and pressing a few things.

What you need to do is downgrade to 3.55 DEX, then upgrade to 4.50 ITA, it is pretty easy to do.

When you are on ITA, run ITA manager go to network tools and restore original console id, then you can sign in. There is a few tutorials around NGU if you have a look.

Concerning PS2 backups, you'll have to research yourself unless someone else posts a reply about them, I haven't a clue.

Thank you both, Could you guys tell me the advantages of have a DEX machine. I think I'm going to be interested in a CEX CFW with Cobra mixed, but I'm curious on the advantages of having DEX. If you guys know where I could find a 4.50 CFW mixed with Cobra that would be great. Thanks.

Too much to explain haha but I highly recommend it, you can't data transfer on DEX but you don't need to on account of signing in!
