iv'e just finished fixing a old PS3 i had, it's currently on OFW 3.15

All i need to know is witch CFW or DEX firmware to use? There's so many, in fact i can choose anyone of them so that's why i'm not sure where to start from?

At the end i want to RTM some games.
Any help, tips & opinion will be considered and appreciated.

Well, since you are new I would suggest using a CEX= consumer/retail firmware version.

DEX= Developers/Modding firmware version and not suggested for new people to the scene and require you to convert your CEX> DEX. the process requires you alter and flash files onto your PS3. This is highly risky and can cause a brick if your not careful.

I suggest Rogero CFW, since he is very dependable and respectable developer.
Start with Rogero 4.55 CFW, since it is the latest updated CFW.

When installing any CFW make sure you remove any disc in the BD and that disable the internet connection.

Then you need to be on 4.50 CFW to RTM. CCAPI only support firmware below 4.50. So, if you ended up on Rogero 4.55, then you will have to use Rogero 3.55 downgrader, QA and then install Rogero 3.55 v3.7 and last install 4.50 CFW to RTM with CCAPPI

Alright, i wanna get on the latest REBUG DEX fw. I can find my way to make the convertion from CEX2DEX as there`s a lot of great tutorial on the site.

The only thing i`d like to know is with my console being on 3.30ofw, should i update to 3.55ofw then install the CFW? Or straight from 3.30ofw to CFW? Also, should the fist CFW to be install be a 3.55 CFW or i can go staight from 3.30ofw to a higher than 3.55CFW?

I`m asking because if i ever have to downgrade, i think it would be better that my console was once on 3.55 if i ever have to downgrade back to 3.55? Right?!?

Hey bro I don't know if anyone has completely answered your questions yet but I am going to try.

You first need to go to 3.55 OFW.

Then you will go to a CFW. If you are wanting to go to DEX then just switch to Kmeaw 3.55 CFW

Now that you are on 3.55 CFW you are going to want to do the following before moving to any other firmware:
-Toggle your QA Flag
-Install a Multiman Compatible with 3.55
-Dump your CEX flash which you will use later to switch your console to DEX.

That's it for 3.55, now just upgrade your PS3 to 4.21.2 Rebug REX and from there you can follow this tutorial by DerekTrotter:
