Check your ps3 model to see if it's compatible, then just patch it to 4.55 and you shouldn't have any issues.

You can downgrade from any firmware your ps3 just has to have existed during or before the 3.55 update. Check and see if your ps3 model was created before or after to update and then you should know if your ps3's downgradable
