Version 4.60" I don't even get the option to update from USB. My ps3 is not connected to the internet. Help

That got me a little farther, now my problem is it keeps saying the file is corrupt

Its because you haven't used toggle qa to de-hash to 3.55

This is the way i always do it.

9.99 downgrade>toggle qa >Rogero 3.55v3.7 then cfw of your choice

As your already on 3.55 just toggle qa then install cfw of you choice

toggle qa button combo is
L1 + L2 + L3 (press left stick) + R1 + R2 + dpad_down (all at the same time) use your nose:p

use recovery menu if you get an error

Ok I successfully opened up the toggle qa menu but I'm confused what to do now. I'm sorry this is my first ps3 jailbreaking so I'm a noob.

Could be a couple reasons you maybe updated the CFW with a disk inside the PS3 or either Change your USB stick, maybe reinstalling the CFW your on right now again - Let me know if any of those ideas help you, Hope so good luck

Yeah make sure no game in drive & that ps3 is not connected to router & use the right side usb port

Try reinstalling your CFW again (Rogero 3.55) try in Recovery Mode , also your USB drive could be faulty try a new USB

Thanks guys finally got it working successfully and I am now on Rogero 4.55 CFW. Installed Rogero 3.55 v3.7, then from there installed Rogero 4.55, Both using recovery mode.
