For a couple of reasons, one being I can't install any firmwares even from recovery mode it can't find applicable data. And before going to DREX I've had no problems like this. Please help, I've been stuck on DEX for two days now. Please don't tell me to stay on DEX either... My ps3 can't handle it, nor do I have any use for being on DEX. Any help would be appreciated thanks guys.

You cant install CEX firmware on a DEX system. You need your original CEX flashes and you need to use rebug toolbox. I don't know the steps because ive never converted DEX2CEX before but you should look up a DEX2CEX tut.

I did. And literally none of them make sense. Most of them are outdated or completely different methods from one to another. I'm fucked though because I can't install 999 downgrader...... I really have no clue how to get off of this firmware. Should I rewrite my target ID to 84 then try to install another cfw? Or would that brick? Also if I did that would I need to qa flag before or after?

You must use your original CEX flash or yes you WILL brick!

Yeah it's my original cex flash but i have both my dex flash and my cex flash on my usb in the ps3. Should I take the dex one off? or would it matter. Also do I need to qa flag before or after or both?

Rewrote flash to 84 with rebug toolbox. I can now downgrade with 999 downgrader again, so hopefully I'm not speaking too soon but it looks like I didn't brick

Qa flagging is done on 3.55 no need to on anything higher or if you've done it already xD

After you updated with 999 you update with 4.46 drex then change kernels.
