Do you have the metal casing on and the 2 metal bars screwed on and in correct place?

Does the light go green first then go orange and finally turn off?

If so you will have a brick and have to do the following.

1. Connecting SE0 to TRISTATE (without soldering; and not to the SE0 point)

2.The only (and must have) purpose of this connection is to keep your PS3 power up the motherboard and E3 flasher without shutting down. This allows the E3 flasher to flash a working copy of the firmware into its storage in its memory board (commonly known as the NOR processor).

3. It works by connecting the TRISTATE to a 3.3 voltage. So happen that the SE0 of the E3 board is 3.3 voltage, hence the official instruction is to solder these two points together. There are many issues with this soldering – the distance is far too long between these points, the connection pad on the E3 flasher is way too small, in particular it makes disassembling the PS3 extremely difficult once soldered. I do not recommend soldering these points.

4. Instead you can try connecting the TRISTATE point to other 3.3 voltage points on your PS3 board (there are plenty of them). These points are different depending on the different version of PS3 you have. At the bottom of this site You must login or register to view this content. has a lot of photos with test points mapped.

5. Instead of soldering, try use any wire/cable and sticky tape to connect these two points. Remember – it’s the objective that matters. Don’t hang on to the soldering comment from the official site.

This would be the only way to fix it if it is bricked and the PS3 is not staying on mainly because this draws power from the motherboard instead of the HDD slot and as such you will be able to get back up and running.

Just make sure that you have a valid dump first by double checking the dump and if the console is banned then you can ask people to look over the dump for you. DO NOT DO THIS IF IT IS NOT BANNED OTHERWISE THE CONSOLE ID WILL PROBABLY BE STOLEN AND SOLD.

Okay so ive done all that, flashed the bkups3 or what ever now that i take off the wire and restart, right when i press the power button the light goes green for less than a second turns yellow, beeps about 3 times then powers off. ive tried to put the wire back on and power it on but no luck, yellows then powers off. Is this a hard brick or is there a way out?

you need to put the e3 flashers up and down thing to keep it on so you can flash the dumps

I actually have a PS3 suffering from the same problem that you describing the reason mine came about was because when I was flashing the nor backup back to the PS3 it was a empty dump with no information on it at all (a bad dump basically) so that PS3 is not sitting in storage and being used for spare parts now.

This was why I mentioned to verify the dump because if you have a bad dump then there maybe no way to reverse this outcome without a good dump and if you have not got one then you will have a perma brick.

If you have followed the advice I posted then the PS3 would not need to be turned on just left in standby to be able to use the E3 Flasher to flash the dump on to the NOR if this is not the case then it will not work.
