I have watched on youtube on videos how to freeze fix and they all go into recovery and rebuild database .. if i rebuild the database on my ps3 will it update my ps3 firmware?

if your rebuild the database it will delete messages,playlists and other info nothing more nothing less

I had this problem I also tried the options you have mentioned but like "Another" said it does nothing more than delete messages,playlists etc. The only fix I found was to fit a new hard drive and just re-install my custom firmware. Hope this helps
