So did I get banned because GTA detected the modded eboot and banned me of PS3?

Usually it takes more than that to get banned from GTA. Might you have been using a public id?

I bought a private cid, but this can get me banned, right?

The chances are that the console ID was not private and was sold to more than one person, you being one of them.

Like Restrain said, sellers, especially on CC, are known for selling public ids as private, just to scam a few bucks off of people. Next time, try to buy from a trusted person or a friend.
