I have a distaste for those that copy other peoples work. I had a jailbroken PS3 when geohot's was the only choice, went to kmeaw's 3.55 after that since it added backup support. From there the flood of CFWs came about with everyone copying everyone else. This includes rogero, habib and all the others. The only one I saw any originality in was Rebug with its duel CEX/DEX kernels and safety checks to prevent bricking. I was a late adopter of 4.46.1 as I had no need to update until I got sick of patching for 3.55. I also wanted to try out DEX.
I have yet to hear of anyone bricking their PS3 while using Rebug 4.46 (soft-bricks don't count) I can not say the same for other CFWs. I have heard that some people do not consider it to be a true DEX and it isn't, it iis a hybrid. But there is nothing a true DEX firmware can do that it can not. Besides you do not get a true DEX box simply by installing a firmware, a true DEX has 512 Mb of RAM, a converted one only has 256 Mb.
As for ITA I have never tried it, but if it is anything like their other software I am glad I didn't waste my time. This is just my opinion based on their user interfaces and I can not judge the quality of the code under it.
Picking a CFW should be based on what you want to do with it. If you want to be able to play PS2 backups get something with cobra, if not avoid all those CFWs that have cobra it will just cause you grief. If you want ability to swap to CEX and DEX quickly get Rebug. If you want something as close to OFW as you can get get a CEX firmware.
I pick Rebug 4.46.1 so I can run CCAPI 2.00, 2.50 and 2.60 on it as well as swap to CEX and back in seconds all for testing purposes. Not having to get a new spoof every time Sony updates is very nice too since it auto spoofs, but that is just a nice extra.
Pick what you need your CFW to do, then pick a CFW that doesn't suck for you.
I think you may have answered my question, I was going to create a new thread..but with this answer I figured I would ask here.
As of right now I have an OFW, a CEX on Rogero 4.55 (Works perfectly) and a DEX on Rebug 4.46 (I think that's the number).
My question, is this, ...for my DEX, should I leave it on Rebug or is there a more stable DEX cfw that I'm not aware of? I really hate to go messing around and downgrading and installing different firmwares if I don't have too. Plus I don't see any problems with the Rebug firmware so far. (If it's not broke, don't fix it I say)
Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!
