I'm going to get a jailbroken PS3 soon, but I really don't know if I should go for CEX or DEX... I know DEX is better for modding, but ccapi is pretty good as well. Is DEX really worth it? Let me know what you think! And please give me some advice regarding firmwares as well! I don't really know what's the difference between them and I would like to get some information about that.

DEX is mainly if you want to do more than mod.... Like create or develop things. If i were you i'd use CEX, especially since all CFW are patched except Habib.
