How it was possible to know the cid of a console before and why not now?
The ps3 has to send the information about the cid to the sony's server, so it's tecnically possible to get it (somehow) ?

After update 4.70 Sony patched this, that's why it doesn't work now. The only way you can grab the CID of a OFW PS3 is using a E3 Flasher.

Yea man they patched grabbing CID from OFW do to new patch. So you would have to jailbreak your OFW and grab cid. Then you can take the jailbreak off by installing a OFW
