(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I haven't used my jailbroken ps3 for a while, so yesterday i said why not give it a go. I turn it on, blackscreen. So i researched for a good hour or two and concluded that my HDD is bad. thinking this will fix it i went ahead and bought a new one. put it in and turn on the ps3 again, boom screen went on and all and i thought that would be it. little did i know that i would need to update it now. back to trusty uncle google on how to go about doing this. found out that i need 4.7+ firmware as instructed by my ps3 to update. so i downloaded Rebug's 4.7 d-rex firmware (my ps3 is dex) and put that on a FAT32 formatted usb. i go back to my ps3's recovery mode and try to update, now it says "The data is corrupted (8002F225)" at this point i just lost hope and i have no idea what to do anymore.

i would really appreciate your help guys,
many thanks.

So when you installed your new HDD you formatted it to 3.55 i take it? You will need to install a 3.55 cfw as you will now be on 3.55 ofw,qa toggle then install rebug Smile

i couldn't do that as it gave me an error saying "the system storage cannot be accessed ", whenever i try to rebuild the file system and another error saying"a serious error has occured (8002f22f)" whenever i try to downgrade/upgrade.

I think you've lost your jailbreak by the sounds of it. I could be wrong though lol.

Check and see what firware you are on, if possible. If you are still on a custom firmware, install the 999 (3.55) Downgrader. This will allow you to install any firmware. If you cant install it, your ps3 is probably updated to the ofw.

Pretty sure i was on 4.5 dex. Whenever i try the downgrader i get another error , and when i boot into safe mode and try to update from there, my console freezes once i hit the firmware update option.
