Yes you do need a jailbreak of what i heard i think its MW3 and up require jailbreak but if you do have a jailbroken ps3 then yes, you can use a laptop. You need to download a FTP Client such as Filezilla then open a package or program on ps3 such as rebug toolbox or multiman then you can find on how to download mods

Find a RTM TOOL or EBOOT for the current version your game is on and either use a USB ( safer way in my opinion ) or filezilla and drag the eboot into the USRDIR folder and make a backup of the original one ( optional ) then replace it or you can use a RTM TOOL but you will need CCAPI

Method 1. U need file zilla on your computer and your ps3s ip from system settings or rebug toolbox. Once you have that go into rebug toolbox and hit system information.(i do this so I always know my systems ip). Then go back to ur computer and open up file zilla. In the top left you should see..

host:

This is where u enter your ps3s ip. So enter that and hit enter.

You should see folders show up in the center of file zilla this is what we need.

Now lets say you are trying to mod gta5 and you want to use power v4 download it then you will see some files that look like

Blah blah.sprx
EBOOT.BIN.

IF the menu doesn't have an eboot just download one and rename power to gtamenu.sprx.

Back in file zilla. Click on dev_hdd0

Then scroll down until u see
Tmp folder

This is where any sprx. Ini files. Txt , key files will go.

So you would put
Powerv4.sprx in here.

Then go back until your outside of the tmp folder. Then scroll up until u see "game' folder. Click on it. Now look for your game region. In your case I hope you are on bles gta.

So look for BLES01807 FOLDER and click on it. Then click on USRDIR. THIS is where you will put any EBOOT.BIN OR. Modded update.rpf file. After u change out the eboot with the one that either came with the menu or one you downloaded from mods section on this forum. You will be set. Just launch the game n have fun
