(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Backstory:
I had made a lagswitch with the on/off switch to a lava lamp (couldnt find a spare light switch). It worked on the green wire (occasionally would disconnect but that was do to it being a cheap switch. The orange wire would disconnect instantly). I didnt like that it was hard to flip the switch, but never the less, it worked. I also have two separate cuts in the green wire (but one of them is tied back together and creating the connection again)

But recently I invested 1$ on a real light switch... yippie! So I unhooked the the lava lamp switch, replaced it with the light switch but now have hit 2 snags! A) When I hooked up the light switch where the lava lamp switch was, it does nothing. I can turn the switch the internet still works (I am not hooking it up wrong/faulty switch, because I tried with the orange wire and it gave me a connection and when I would flip the switch the internet would die instantly unless I flip it right back)! B) BUT if I untie the second cut in green wire, bam the internet goes out.

Here is a rough drawings

Modem-->router--------->Xswitch------>Xfixed cut------------>PS3

This worked with lava lamp switch, but not light switch... Why?

Oh I am also on settings Half duplex 100.

try this:

You must login or register to view this content.

if it still doesn't work, i don't know what to tell you except maybe buy a longer ethernet cable (50ft would be pretty good).

... I know this ethernet cord works, and I know the settings are right (I used this before).

Half of the question is how am I getting internet when it is completely cut.

UPDATE:
Sometimes if I have the 2nd cut disconnected, the lag switch will work! What the hell?!?!? That means the lagswitch isnt even connected to the ps3. Heres a diagram of what the switch looks like when it WORKS:

Modem-->Router--->XLagswitch green wire---->XCut in green wire thats DISCONNECTED---->PS3

Now I am really baffled. Why would a switch in a cord that isn't connected to anything, work?
