When I use these the "reccomended settings" it renders my lag switch compleatly useless. even if I hold it the entire match wile im host everyone is lag free. When I just use auto the lag switch works but only when it wants to. I can go 6 matches of the switch working fine and then go 6 days with it instantly getting "eathernet has been disconnected" also when I do use it, it takes about two or 3 seconds for them to stop moveing. When the switch does work it will stay working untill the other person times out. It never gives the message of disconnecting or ends the match.
I had a similar problem with the first lag switch I built. The problem was that I extended both the ends of the orange wire out using old electrical cable and having the switch in between the PS3 and modem.
The second lag switch I built works flawlessly. I used a cat6 cable instead of cat5, put the switch in between the modem and the router, used no extensions and soldered all the joints.
If you done those things and it still doesn't work then try using a modem/router that doesn't have an on/off switch at the back as I heard ones that do don't work. Also make sure your switch is in good condition as if you are using old switches the insides could be rusty or faulty.
