1. Download the f/w that you wish to update to. A list of all the retail f/w's can be found in the downloads section of this site:

All f/w files will be named PS3UPDAT.PUP, there is no way of telling which f/w is which by the name of the .PUP file

2. Whilst that file is downloading, on the root of your memory stick make a folder called "PS3" and then make another folder inside called "UPDATE"

3. Then once the file has finished downloading, place it into the update folder, as the example shows below

MEMORY STICK > PS3 > UPDATE > PS3UPDAT.PUP

4. Then plug your memory stick into your PS3 and go to Settings > System update.

5. Then press install via storage device.

6. Click on the correct device and the PS3 should automatically recognise the file and begin the update feature.

Well if u go into HEX editor... Uncheck read-me only you can edit the Update contents. Im going to try changing the 3.15 update to 3.41.... i know it obviously won't work but no shame in trying.

You should have posted this right after PS3 release in 2006, Everyone know this, There were some complaints back in 2007 that if You update OFW from Memorystick to PS3 will brick the PS3, mostly 60GB version but there still no fix to that.

AND DO NOT DOWNLOAD FROM HAX NETWORK BECAUSE IT GOT BAD OR VIRUS OFW THAT CAUSE TO BRICK PS3 I DONE THAT ONCE ON MY 80GB PS3 VERSION. IT STARTS UPDATING THEN IT REACH AT 76% AND I GOT ERROR AND JUST BRICK MY PS3.

SO IF YOU WANT TO UPDATE OFW ON 60GB VERSION OR OTHER VERSION, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND UPDATE FROM PS3 ONLINE OR DOWNLOAD FROM OFFICIAL SONY PS3 WEBSITE. I DONT KNOW IF PABrol trying to get your PS3 to brick on purpose, If not im sorry, BUT I WOULD'T DOWNLOAD UPDATE FROM HAX NETWORK, HERE THE SONY WEBSITE TO DOWNLOAD OFW
