This tutorial will teach you how to flash and run PSGroove on your BlackCat USB board. This will allow you to run homebrew and backup manager on your Playstation 3.
This tutorial was written/tested under a Windows 7 x64/x86(32 bit). Other Windows operating versions should work just fine.
Files you will need:
* Playstation 3 running PS3 FW 3.41 (unconfirmed on newer updates)
* BlackCat USB Board(Purchase Here)
* Atmel Flip 3.3.1+ (Download Here) *Install this*
* PSGroove Hex for BlackCat (Download Here)
Getting your PC to recognize your Blackcat USB Board
1. Put the Blackcat in DFU mode by flipping both switches to the 1 an 2 positions.
2. Connect Blackcat to your PC, and press the RESET button.
3. Open Device Manager (Right Click MY COMPUTER, and click Properties, then click DEVICE MANAGER) .
4. Click on ACTION menu, and click on "Add Legacy Hardware" (Note it does not appear right away give it a few minutes to appear)
5. A wizard should pop up, select the advanced option.
6. Highlight "Show All Devices" and click Next.
7. Click "Have Disk", then browse where ever you installed Amtel, the default should be here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Atmel\Flip 3.4.1\usb\
8. Select atmel_usb_dfu.inf
9. Once driver is installed, press the RESET button on Blackcat again, and it should show correctly on Device Manager.
Flashing PSGroove on your Blackcat
1. Start up Amtel Flip software, and select target device AT90USB162. (Should be a small button of a microchip in the top left)
2. Go into Settings and select a communication medium, choose USB. Your Blackcat information should now show up.
3. Go to File, hit Load Hex File, and load the Hex file you downloaded earlier (psgroove_blackcatusb.hex)
4. Erase, Blank Check it, and flash/write the Hex file onto the chip.
5. Unplug Blackcat from your PC.
6. On the Blackcat, flip both switches back down.
Your done, and should have successfully flashed PSGroove on your Blackcat
Now all you have to do is boot your PS3 properly with your PSgroove flashed USB board (tutorial coming soon).
