OK, looking around there seems to be a lot of confusion about region locked patches and what is region locked and what isn't. So I'm just going to clarify everything for you all.
The PS3 software packages which can contain anything from software, games AND game updates (patches) come in the form of PKG.
MW2/COD4/COD5 use a file specific to Call of Duty to update the game which is stored WITHIN a PKG. This contains all the GSC (C++) code for the game. This is also what we edit to get modded lobbies. The file is called: patch_mp.ff
PKGs are REGION LOCKED. This is done through the PARAM.SFO file. See my PKG Editing Tutorial to change this.
patch_mp.ff is NOT REGION LOCKED, and work for any Call of Duty game, as long as the Header fits your console (see below).
You can't the files are packed in completely different ways.
Lots of people are working on it, but at the moment it is quite a lengthy process.
so I wouldn't be able to host a UnDeaD HaVoC v6 modded lobby on ps3? It's a PC & xbox 360 patch. If all I did was change it to ps3 header & make myself admin would it work for ps3?
