Before they do though, could they please change the firmware version. It's on the first line of: /dev_flash/vsh/etc/version.txt

Maybe you should inform them that updating with the usb as of now, will cause it to return to the default flash and automatically update.

Well, when they go to download the fw loader, they'll will see that, but yes, If you update with this in, you will really update your actual /dev_flash/...

Also, could someone please upload a copy of their /dev_flash/... I warn you though to remove the saving of your User/Pass, as somehow it can be retrieved from your flash...

Am I correct in thinking it will not work with PSFreedom and instead you must have PSGroove Payload Updated with PS3 LV2 Peek and Poke SysCalls ? If it worked with PSFreedom I would try this and also upload my /dev_flash

Does anyone know if PSJb has peek and poke syscall? I know that PSGroove v1.1 does...
