(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi guys,

Over the last few days, I've been looking into editing the PS3UPDAT file (The one used to update) and then putting it onto the ps3 via USB.

I haven't had any success, but I figured that if you trick the ps3 into thinking:

1. You have upgraded, meaning you can go online
2. You can now use the FTP and so forth after 3.50

I'm sure that the theory would work well, but in practice it is very difficult.

I looked into deformatting the update, with no luck (stupid mac), but i'm sure that you guys who decrypt everything in seconds ("Slight" exaggeration") could pull it off.

Just an idea, but so far, I have tried:

1. Editing the CFW number = Fail
2. Copying the update data from 3.41 into 3.50, didn't read on the ps3 = Fail
3. A mix of the two = Fail

You can easily get both firmwares online, ps3hax I think, and then go from there.

I'm just getting the idea out there, that reverse engineering the patch could make it work in our favor, and there wouldn't be any problems with upgrading, as you could keep updating it.

So, comments? Trolls? I know I'm a newbie, but I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out different methods of downgrading, editing and different ideas. :pedo:

Trolls?...I'l troll!:p Just by saying it isn't a new theory lol. Anyone who has any chance of cracking this problem will have thought of this themselvesSmile. And in my POV the best chance of us being online without updating fully is: mod the firmware downloader on the ps3 using PS Jailbreak so that is extracts the firmware on to a USB stick meaning we can boot into that firmware temporarily to play games and boot our firmware on ps3 when loading homebrew/moddingSmile

you would have to decrypt the rest of it to find out, but were probably months away from that.

Dammit, I thought I was onto something >.<

You say that you would have to decrypt everything, but you could just re-do the patch?

Also - Anyone thought of using a ti-84 emulator?
