to jailbreak it you have to power cycle your ps3 plug in the device your jailbreaking with then turn it on and hit the eject button really fast and I would be jailbreaking with a iPod touch 1g but the problem is it's my bros iPod and I'm wondering ir I can borrow it jailbreak my ps3 then be done with his iPod or will I need to have the iPod touch everytime I turn on my ps3???

you only need to plug it in when you want your ps3 to be jailbroken then once you take it out your ps3 will no longer be jailbroken

as said above ^^ need the ipod for everytime u wana jailbreak so if u were to back a game up.. to play it u will need your ps3 jailbroken. and just to make it clear u need ps3 FW 3.41
