By the way, this IS about Backing up and restoring the ps3 BUT WITH A DIFFERENCE!
Okay so the whole backing up a hacked ps3 with a patch, uploading it and restoring it won't work due to what i would assume a unique or personal copyright coding for each PS3'S backup, basically each PS3 has a different code and if a PS3 installs a backup without the PS3'S personal code then copyrighted material cannot be installed, how else would Sony stop people copying copyrighted files to another PS3 via backup?
Well here is My 'Theory':
1)Get two PLAIN (Nothing installed on the ps3, format the HDD etc) Backups that are exactly the same (same FW, same region etc.) One from a freind or over the internet, and the other backup your own.
2) Use a program (i don't know which sorry, i don't know if HxD will work) To view the differences between the files and find the copyrighted-coding
3) Once you have found the code, install MW2 with 1.11 and download or get a freind to give you a HACKED 1.11 MW2 PATCH, it HAS to be from the same region, e.g BLES683 etc.
4) Repeat step 2.
5) Now you know YOUR PS3 COPYRIGHT CODING, search it on HxD (or the program you are using) to see if the Coding is still there, if it is, try and find the Hacked patch Copyright coding, it should be near the same Row/Collum on Hxd (or whatever program your using) That your PS3'S coding was on.
6) Replace the Hacked patch Copyright coding with your own PS3'S Copyright coding, to do this HIGHLIGHT THE CODING AND TYPE IN YOUR, pressing backspace and entering it won't work! Now i realise there might be several files withing the Whole Backup, try and replace the copyright files in them to.
7) Put the HACKED backup data onto a memory stick, install it onto the PS3
Okay so i havn't tried this, but im 'assuming' that a method like this could work, especially for alot of you who are desperate to make your own challenge lobbies for MW2 or simply hack some games.
Please no flaming or negative comments, i might sound modest but im pretty sure this is the CLOSEST anybody has come to so far to figuring out how to FULLY restore data from one PS3 to another.
If this does work, People could backup their broken PS3'S with all the DLC they have and game installs etc. and restore it to their new PS3 without causing a hassle.
This could help Alot of People out
