its currently possible to edit any firmware but your just risking you ps3 operating system. just like you computer for instance, if you **** with the computer drivers what happens to your computer? it crashes and you have to reload the Windows/Mac disc and go through the setup all over again but in this case you probably can fix it unless you buy a whole new hard drive for your ps3.
