I'm afraid there will be issues.
1. The index.dat is encoded differently to each PS3, so the FW version will show up as X.XX
2. You will NOT be able to go online.
3. Once you turn the PS3 off and then on, the original firmware will erase the OtherOS - or it might not... Depends how Sony have set things up.
4. Apart from that it would work

Cool idea.But you would still be having à problemen with the NAND chip.
