Well im trying to help Xcellerator ... we need a way to decrypt the HDD and find where (when updating) the PS3 stores the update on the HDD after setting bootflags to boot into update mode. So i figure when the ps3 dls the update and stores it on the HDD that when it reboots.. but before it has time to boot up kill the power to the console and use the decryption program to find the update and alter it. The bootflags should be set to boot to that update mode and use that update. So replace it with an altered FW and name it the exact same... thus installing any FW desired but the PS3 using it as 3.50 or w/e ... thats what i think. Any thoughts?

well this wouldnt work because every HDD is different and has different data. like the sector headers for the patch will be different on every HDD. and it will be very hard to select certain data like patches due to the size of it (over 150mb).
