OK I know there have been quite a few threads on how to 'help' restore or how to restore PS3 blu-ray movie playback. This is a tutorial that is simpler, cleaner, and easier to understand. I've also spaced the tutorial so that it is easier on the eyes to read.
Also, if part of the tutorial doesn't make sense, feel free to ask me non-stupid questions. Part of it could be my fault, as I wrote the tutorial first and then uploaded the files.
Why can't my PS3 play blu-ray moveis?
A. If you have downgraded to 3.41, the modified .PUP file replaces a file on your PS3 with a debug file. Debug PS3's cannot play blu-ray movies.
So if you downgraded to put challenge lobby patches or some miscellaneous homebrew apps on your PS3, and then upgraded your PS3 to 3.55, your screwed. (for now anyways :wink
To specific people: THIS WILL NOT WORK ON 3.55
Requirements and files ~
PS3 with a firmware with of 3.50 or 3.41

Since there are a ton of tutorials on how to downgrade from 3.50 to 3.41, I'll let you find a tutorial that fits your jailbreak dongle. And if you request for a link on how to downgrade, you shouldn't even
attempt to do this tutorial.
To spare you of the reading, if you have downgraded before, it's the exact same process as 3.50 to 3.41, except you will swap the 3.41 modified pup with the official pre - 3.41 firmware.
Once you have downloaded the package, unzip it to wherever. I have included the LV files, and the 3.21 official firmware. OK so put your PS3 into factory mode, the PS3 will turn off by itself, this is normal. You can verify this by turning on your ps3.
Now take your jailbreak device out of your PS3, and go to your computer and put the 3.21 firmware and the FILE 1 LV files on your USB. Stick it into your PS3 (I find that the right most port helps), and turn it on. Again, your ps3 will turn off. This process will take awhile, so I recommend waiting at least 15 minutes before doing anything drastic.
So once your ps3 is off, go back to your computer, delete everything off your usb and put the file 2 LV file on your usb.
This will kick your PS3 out of factory service mode. So plug it back into your ps3 and turn it on, this time should be relatively fast, it should turn off in 10 seconds.
Now turn on your PS3, and verify that the process went smoothly. Now to restore it blu-ray movie playback, update to 3.55 or 3.41. This will replace the debug blu-ray movie playback files into the files they were prior to when you downgraded.
P.S. You can downgrade to any pre-3.41, but don't downgrade past 2.10.
