It is on 3.50 FW at the moment but I can't update or else I will lose the ability to JB (which I gather from reading other threads). Is it safe or Am I gonna mess up my investment? Can it be played online? I read something about downgrading can cause problems with Bluray player....is this fixable. Do I need to buy anything to JB and downgrade it ? Is it reversible once it's done? Any help would be amazing.

Could someone post a link to the safest method to JB ( I have had a look but nothing is jumping out at me)

Is there a way I can go on to PSN in the meantime also without updating?

If you want to jailbreak , you have to downgrade by gettin a downgrade Usb Stick
BUT , if you downgrade , it will wreck your bluray player.

You Cant get into Psn unless you update to 3.55

Is there no surefire way of not wrecking the bluray player - I am assuming it still plays the games it doesnt play blu ray films?

Slims do not have the blu ray issue and I think you need to downgrade to 3.15 and then update to 3.41 with a new PS3

Well we can't really link you to a tutorial if you don't tell us what you're going to jailbreak with. Do you have an iPod touch first gen, or a ti-84 calculator that you use for school?

I have neither. I have an Iphone 3G though.

I couldn't find you a text tutorial, but I assume since most people prefer video (aka youtube) tutorials that you'll do just fine with this tut.
