I was really big into the PSP hacking scene but I recently abandoned my PS3 when I got an Xbox 360 for christmas :] but now I would like to pick back up the old PS3

First, I have the original "fat" PS3. Firmware version: 3.15 (shows how long ago I was online)
I wanna know how I can go about jailbreaking/installing cfw on my PS3. What are the risks of being banned doing so? Do I have to update to a later firmware or can I just simply do this with the FW version I'm on now?

Also, I read about how I can jailbreak with my Motorola Droid 2??

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.. I'm so confused

and then follow steps 7-16 up in the link^^

Now you don't have to use any device to jailbreak your PS3, everything is alot more easier with Geohot's jailbreaking method. Use the "search" and look for it =)

Ahh, thanks I read somewhere that you couldn't jailbreak with 3.55 so I didn't wanna do that until I knew.. so once I'm finished with this part, do you think that CFW is necessary or will jailbreaking simply be enough? Do I gain any advantages by installing CFW?

Also, I'm sure I will still be able to sign into playstation network and play online, am I correct? Or will there be a risk of being banned while playing on the hacked console?
